Title

AUTHORIZATION TO ELECTRONICALLY TRANSMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY 2023 ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT PROGRAM

Body

NOTE:  The FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program enhances the safety of the public and firefighters by providing direct financial assistance to address fire and fire-related hazards. The funds provide critically needed resources that equip and train emergency personnel to recognized standards, enhance operational efficiencies, foster interoperability, and support community resilience.

The City of Pinellas Park Fire Department proposes to submit an online application to the 2023 AFG Grant Program to purchase 19 portable radios for the department's frontline vehicles. These radios will replace units that have aged out and are no longer supported by the manufacturer. The radios will be P25 compliant for interoperability, and purchase price will include 3 years of maintenance and support. The proposed budget for the 2023 AFG Application is $199,366.00. The City will be responsible for a 10% cost share estimated at $18,124.19.  Funds for the proposed grant application and required match are included in the FY 23-24 Capital Equipment Replacement Program account 501-221-562108.
