AUTHORIZATION FOR DONATION - NAMI Pinellas

NOTE: Chief Adam Geissenberger is requesting approval to donate $5,000.00 from the State Confiscated Property Fund in support of the non-profit organization NAMI Pinellas.
NAMI Pinellas has been serving Pinellas County residents by supporting individuals and loved ones affected by mental illness. Originated as small group to assist families with loved ones affected by mental illness, today NAMI employs a variety of trained staff to raise awareness, train peers, and provide support and education for those affected by a mental health condition. NAMI is a non-profit which advocates for access to mental health services, treatment, support and research for Pinellas County.
The Police department’s donation to NAMI Pinellas will be used for enhancements to facilitate mental health training and programs provided to families in Pinellas County. Pursuant to Florida Statute 932.7055(5), this is to certify this proposed expenditure complies with State required provisions for the expenditure of these funds.
Recommendation
ACTION: (Approve - Deny) Authorization for a donation to NAMI Pinellas, in the amount of $5,000.00 for mental health services, training, and programs. This amount will be taken from the Confiscated Property Fund Operating account number 104-212-5-331-09.
